Public discussion of reearch papers at the Central Bank

20 February 2023, Baku: The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan constantly analyzes and studies the processes taking place in domestic and foreign economy and financial markets. As part of this, an internal discussion of the conducted researches is organized annually. This year, for the first time, a broad public discussion on these papers was organized. Public discussions took place on 13-17 February 2023, in a webinar format called "research week". The webinar discussions focused on 5 research papers, one paper per day. The discussions were attended by about 300 participants.

The webinars were attended by teachers and students of various universities, as well as employees of government agencies and bodies. During the public debates, the participants were presented the research papers on estimation and forecast of the current account balance components, assessment of the response of inflation to climate changes in Azerbaijan, nowcasting household consumption in Azerbaijan, assessment of demand and supply factors on bank lending and nowcasting GDP using national payment system data. During the discussions, which lasted an average of two hours each day, the numerous questions from participants were answered and their views and suggestions were heard to take them into account in the next studies.

It is planned to hold an open public discussion of the researches that will be conducted at the Central Bank in the coming years.
