On ‘Digital payments and electronic banking services’ course

4 September 2023, Baku: One of the key actions of the ‘State Program on expansion of digital payments in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2018-2020’ approved with Decree No 508 of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 26 September 2018 was to provide pupils, teachers and students with necessary knowledge on digital payment services. As part of the implementation of this action assigned to the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan a textbook titled ‘Digital payments and electronic banking services’ was written for the first time in the country in 2020.
The authors of the tesxtbook developed a ‘Digital payments and electronic banking services’ course based upon the said textbook at the initiative and support of the Central Bank which was placed on the Virtual Education Platform.
The main objective of the course is to raise financial literacy of the population in digital payments, develop new professional staff to be engaged in the field, as well as further improve knowledge and skills of bank employees and students in digital payments and e-banking services.
The course covers total 14 topics. One will get familiarized with presentations on core components of digital payments ecosystem and their operation, the legislative base on digital payments, regulatory and supervisory framework, various payment instruments, including cheques, direct debit, payment cards, e-money and payment transactions with them, data processing in payment transactions during the course.
Taking into account breakthrough development of and wider use of innovations in the digital payment ecosystem, sections on the impact and advantages of digital payments on economic growth, e-banking services and their types, digital money of central banks and its application possibilities, virtual currencies and their application, the sandbox regime, digital banking, as well as frauds in digital payments and counter measures are included in this course
