Central Bank and Visa hold seminar for media members on payment security and cybersecurity

30 November 2023, Baku: The Central Bank and Visa held a financial literacy training for media members.

 

During the one-day training, the leading experts of the Central Bank and Visa shared their knowledge in the field of payment security and cybersecurity with members of the media. It was noted that Azerbaijan is currently one of the leading countries in the region in terms of digitalization. The transition to the application of digital solutions is accelerating in our country, and e-commerce is actively developing. It was also emphasized that the interest of fraudsters in this area is also growing against the background of the expansion of the use of cashless payments. It was noted that in order to prevent cases of payment card fraud, the Central Bank, the banking sector and related state institutions are taking joint measures to strengthen security in the field of digital payments.

 

During the training, it was noted that the Central Bank is constantly conducting nationwide educational activities taking into account all target groups. The participants of the training were informed that, within the framework of the joint cooperation of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan and the Association of Banks of Azerbaijan, the "Action Plan on Financial Literacy in the Field of Digital Payments for 2023" was developed, and the educational video and audio clips prepared in accordance with the Action Plan on the cases of card fraud observed in the use of payment cards were posted on the Central Bank’s pages in social networks, as well as on banks’ social media pages and broadcast on TV and radio channels.

 

Media members received detailed information on the activities of the special working group established at the Central Bank with the participation of law enforcement agencies, relevant state institutions and representatives of the banking sector to organize a continuous exchange of information between institutions for the purpose of detecting cases of fraud in digital payments, timely analysis of the data received and taking preventive actions.

 

The training also shared international practices in combating fraud in the field of digital payments. Experts provided information on the latest global research on financial and banking cybersecurity, trends in approaches to user data protection, the responsibility and role of the media in reporting on cybersecurity, and ways to protect against cybercrimes. The event highlighted the importance of the media's activities in informing users about the security of digital payments and preventing malicious attacks. At the end of the training, the journalists received certificates and promotional materials.

 

It should be noted that the Central Bank will continue relevant educational activities.
