Central Bank of Azerbaijan to Lead High-Level Discussions on Scaling Up Climate Financing

Baku, November 7, 2024: On November 14, the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan will host an important event on “Global Financial System: Scaling Up Financing for Climate Action” during COP29 Finance, Investment and Trade Day.
Convening leaders from the public and private sectors, including Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), private investors, and country authorities, the event will focus on accelerating climate finance efforts and mobilizing resources to support the green transition on a scale needed to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
This program will feature two key panel sessions, showcasing insights from high-ranking representatives of global financial institutions:
“Climate Finance: Transforming Climate Ambition into Tangible Action” - This session will highlight strategies for scaling up climate finance in emerging markets, examining how alignment among MDBs, policy changes, and financial innovation can turn climate commitments into effective action.
“Scaling Up Climate Finance through Global Financial Interoperability” – The panel session will explore how global interoperability in climate finance can be achieved, delving into the better alignment of frameworks and practices with particular focus on more enhanced coordination among MDBs and broader financial system.
The event will also highlight a financial pledge from Azerbaijani banks towards greening financial system and catalyzing green transition in Azerbaijan.
This event is open exclusively to holders of Blue Zone accreditation.
