Central Bank hosts Fintech Summit 2025

25 June 2025, Baku: The Central Bank, along with the Azerbaijan Banks Association, hosted the Fintech Summit 2025 on June 24-25.
The event brought together the country's leading specialists and international experts to discuss digital currencies, modern banking products, and the latest trends in cybersecurity and financial technologies, with the aim of promoting innovation, collaboration, and development.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Vusal Khalilov emphasized the Central Bank's role in developing the digital financial ecosystem, its implemented initiatives, and the strategic importance of cross-sectoral cooperation.
The event then continued with 7 panel discussions.
Ramil Mahmudov, Deputy Director of the Payment Systems and Product Development Department of the CBA, moderated the discussions on the digital transformation of financial services.
Sadig Akhundov, Director of the CBA's Information Technology Operations Department, participated in the next panel, which focused on technological innovations. He exchanged views on artificial intelligence and data and highlighted the CBA's initiatives related to the application of modern technologies.
Ulfat Yusifov, an employee of the CBA's Payment Services and Payment Systems Regulation Department, participated in discussions about the impact of innovations in the digital era.
Fidan Tofidi, Director of the Financial Technologies and Innovations Department of the CBA, spoke about the mediating role of regulatory institutions in strengthening the innovation ecosystem. Gunay Mahmudova, Head of the Payment Sector and Financial Technologies Legal Support Department of the CBA, who was a participant in the same panel, spoke about the role and impact of legal regulation in bank-fintech cooperation and innovations in this area.
The next discussion panel held within the framework of the event was organized on the topic of ensuring the security of digital finance, moderated by Akif Bagirov, Advisor to Governor of the CBA. Mehdi Mehdizade, Head of the Legal Support Department of the Banking Sector of the CBA, spoke as a participant in the panel about the legal framework for cybersecurity in the financial sector.
It should be noted that the event, traditionally held in the country, was attended by government agencies, commercial banks, fintech companies, payment technology providers, representatives of academic circles, and leaders of international organizations.
