27-10-2025

27 October 2025, Baku: On October 27, the Central Bank held an opening ceremony for the Economic Journalism Development Support Program at Baku Slavic University (BSU)'s Faculty of Journalism.

Representatives from the Central Bank and BSU attended the event. The Central Bank representatives thanked the BSU leadership for their support and emphasized the important role of communication in shaping public opinion. They then discussed the consistent initiatives taken to strengthen the Central Bank's partnerships with the media and expand public communication.

In their speeches, representatives from the Central Bank expressed their belief that future professional economic journalists, i.e., students, will play an important role as information partners in this field.

The first session began with the participation of more than 30 students. Tarana Alirzayeva, Head of the Monetary Policy Accountability Division of the Central Bank, conducted this session on the topic “Fundamentals of Macroeconomics and its Application in Journalism.” The training provided information on the objectives and tools of monetary policy, forecasting principles, and modern trends in central banking communication.

The event also provided information about the Central Bank's official websites and electronic resources on financial literacy.

It should be noted that this program, which is a continuation of events held by the Central Bank in honor of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the national press, aims to raise awareness among young journalists of economics and finance, encourage their specialization in these fields, and inspire them to pursue professional opportunities. As part of the training program, representatives of the Central Bank will hold sessions on eight main areas related to central banking.

The Central Bank contributes to increasing financial literacy and training professional staff by regularly organizing training sessions in schools and higher education institutions, as well as special programs for professional journalists.
