Central Bank’s Economic Journalism Development Support Program at BSU concludes

29 December 2025, Baku: The Central Bank's "Support Program for the Development of Economic Journalism" for students of Baku Slavic University's (BSU) Faculty of Journalism has ended.
The closing ceremony for the program took place at the Central Bank on December 26. Students who graduated from the program, BSU and media executives, and responsible Central Bank employees attended the event.
At the event, Ali Ahmadov, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, spoke about the growing importance of communication in modern times. He emphasized that properly informing the public about financial and economic processes is important for strengthening institutional trust. He also provided information on the Central Bank's initiatives to increase transparency and establish an open communication environment.
Tural Ismayilov, Director of the International Cooperation and Communication Department at the Central Bank, said the program will help future journalists cover economic processes in a professional, objective, and accurate manner. He noted that the initiative aims to boost financial literacy and inclusion, adding that the Central Bank places great importance on collaborating with academic institutions.
Vugar Rahimzadeh, Head of the Faculty of Journalism at BSU and a Member of Parliament, and Asgar Ahmad, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Regional Studies, noted the importance of the program in terms of students' professional development and expressed their gratitude to the Central Bank leadership for this initiative.
Guest speakers at the event Vusala Mahirgizi, Head of APA Media Group, and Fuad Huseynaliyev, Director of Report News Agency, discussed the strategic importance of economic journalism for society and encouraged students to specialize in this field, emphasizing the importance of approaching economic issues responsibly.
Graduates of the program shared their impressions and memorable moments from the training.
At the closing ceremony, 27 students who successfully completed the program were presented with certificates, and a commemorative photo was taken.
The main topics of the central banking and financial agenda were presented to the students in a simple and understandable form during the training sessions held by the Central Bank employees from October to December of this year. During the sessions covering 8 main areas, young journalists were given practical recommendations on the preparation of economic news.
