Central Bank continues to support initiatives aimed at environmental protection

24 April 2026, Baku:  The Central Bank and financial institutions organized another tree planting campaign in the Mushfigabad settlement.

The campaign, which is in its fourth successful year, was attended by Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Gülar Paşayeva, the Bank's staff and leaders of the associations. About 250 representatives of the association's member organizations were also in attendance.

During the campaign to enrich the forest fund and expand green spaces in the country, 625 Eldar pine and olive trees were planted. This initiative demonstrates the financial sector's commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.

To note, on March 13, 2023, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Central Bank, the Azerbaijan Banks Association, the Azerbaijan Insurers Association, the Azerbaijan Microfinance Association, the Azerbaijan Stock Market Participants Association, and the Azerbaijan Fintech Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in tree planting activities in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the national leader Heydar Aliyev. The memorandum's purpose is to carry out work related to planting 100,000 trees annually for ten years, starting in 2023, with the participating parties' involvement.
