3 September 2026, Baku: Researchers at the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan have published a study on food import prices in Azerbaijan as part of an international research program involving the bank, Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the Geneva Graduate Institute. The study, “Construction and Forecasting of an Import Price Index for Food Products in Azerbaijan,” was conducted under the Bilateral Assistance and Capacity Building for Central Banks (BCC) program. Tamkin Nuriyev, Aygun Garayeva and Gulzar Tahirova, researchers in the Central Bank’s Research Department, worked with an international expert on the study for three months in 2026. The paper was published in August in the Geneva Graduate Institute’s Working Paper Series.

It supports direct cooperation between researchers and international experts, strengthens research capacity and helps make the bank’s research more visible internationally. The Central Bank has identified research capacity and the international recognition of its research as priorities and plans to continue projects in this area in the coming years.
