Central Bank holds awareness events in a number of pre-school and general education institutions

8 January 2019, Baku: The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan held workshops to raise financial literacy of kids and teachers in a number of public and private preschool education institutions in the first half of 2018/2019 academic year with respect to the implementation of the ‘Increasing knowledge and skills of financial market participants’ target of the ‘Strategic Roadmap on Development of Financial Services’. The workshops for total 270 persons provided the kids with initial ideas on general definitions of financial literacy – savings and money, and information on national currency. The teaching staff was consulted on future education of these topics and received training toolkits for teachers’ and kids’ use.
Over the same period 300 schoolchildren of general education institutions attended awareness lessons during which they were delivered presentations on money and money relations, saving and wasting, and personal budget and saw various video materials from the Financial Literacy portal (bizimpullar.az). The teachers were recommended to effectively utilize the portal in teaching and received training toolkits to allow schoolchildren boost their knowledge.
To note, children and teaching staff of preschool and general education institutions are one of the main target groups of economic literacy and related events will be organized in future as well.
