CBA Governor receives new chief of IMF mission

10 April 2019, Baku: Elman Rustamov, Governor of the Central Bank met with the former Chief of the IMF mission in Azerbaijan Mr Mohammed al Gorchi and the new chief of the mission Ms Natalia Tamirisa.
Mr Mohammad al Gorchi informed the participants on the efforts by the IMF in Azerbaijan while he was the chief, presented the new chief of the mission highlighting her expertise in various directions of the activities of the Fund.
In his turn E.Rustamov mentioned that the country attained rapid socio-economic growth, the fruit of the successful policy pursued by the President, reputation of Azerbaijan on an international arena elevated due to socio-political stability and the country is becoming more and more attractive for international cooperation, and one of the important directions of such cooperation is the relations with international financial institutions, including the IMF. He highly appreciated the activities of Mr Mohamemd al-Gorchi while as the chief of the mission and expressed his gratitude to him.
Wishing good luck to the new head of the mission, Ms Tamirisa in her activities in Azerbaijan Mr E.Rustamov detailed the guests on the cooperation between the IMF and the CBA, the macroeconomic situation in the country, diversification of the economy and non-oil growth, the foreign position of the country, directions of the monetary policy of the CBA and associated reforms.
Highly appreciating economic growth in the country, efforts to maintain macroeconomic and financial stability, conducted reforms Ms Tamirisa mentioned that the institution she is representing stands ready to render financial assistance to our country and be involved to relevant consultations. She said that she will contribute to further ongoing extended support by the IMF for Azerbaijan.
The meeting participants also shared their opinions on future prospects of the cooperation between the CBA and the IMF.
