Central Bank continues financial literacy webinars

9 September 2020, Baku: The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan continues various awareness raising events to form financial culture and financial literacy of the population.
The said events are identified as one of the critical directions in the ‘Strategic Roadmap on development of financial services in the Republic of Azerbaijan’ approved by decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 6 December 2016 and the ‘State Program on expansion of digital payments in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2018-2020’.
In addition to main target groups within the frames of related efforts, a special attention is paid to measures to raise financial literacy of employees working in various enterprises and organizations, as well as recognition of financial literacy as a public value among various professionals and specialists.
On 4 September 2020 the Central Bank conducted a webinar on ‘Digital Payments’ and ‘Responsible Lending for 30 employees of several agencies of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies. Employees of MTCHT bodies – the State Motor Transport Service, the ‘Aztelekom’ LLC, the ‘Azerpost’ LLC, ‘Baku Telefon Rabitasi’ LLC, the State Radio Frequencies Department, the Information Computing Center, the ‘Azermarka’ LLC and the ‘Militarized Security Department’ LLC took part in the webinar.
The webinar provided useful information on national payment systems, benefits of cashless payments, and recommendations for consumers to avoid unnecessary borrowing and borrowing to the extent that they can repay. The webinar participants got acquainted with the latest information in the relevant field and had the opportunity to get answers to their questions online.
To note, the Central Bank will continue conducting educational webinars for employees of public and private enterprises and organizations on various topics on financial literacy.
