First Deputy Governor of CBA speaks at international conference in Georgia

2 June 2025, Baku: A delegation from the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan (CBA) led by Aliyar Mammadyarov, First Deputy Governor paid a business visit to the Republic of Georgia (RG) to participate in an international conference hosted by the National Bank of Georgia (NBG). The event marked the 30th anniversary of Georgia’s national currency.

 

The conference was opened by Natia Turnava, Governor of the NBG, and addressed by Mikhail Kavelashvili, President, Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister, and Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Parliament.

 

Aliyar Mammadyarov was a panelist in the session titled ‘The Global Financial System in a Changing Landscape: Effects on Monetary Policy’ moderated by Governor Turnava. Speaking about the importance of aligning central banks’ policy frameworks to the requirements of a complex environment he highlighted how strategic flexibility and institutional resilience contribute to long-term economic development, the role of regional coordination and shared experience and analytics in promoting sustainable development. He drew attention to key initiatives undertaken by the CBA in safeguarding financial stability and providing the financial sector development.

 

Note that, the conference brought together more than 300 guests from nearly 30 countries, including members of the Georgian government and parliament, senior officials from foreign central banks, representatives of international organizations, and experts from academic and financial institutions.
