Central Bank holds Nakhchivan Regional Banking Forum

7 November 2025, Baku: The ‘Nakhchivan Regional Banking Forum,’ dedicated to the ‘Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty’ and ‘the 5th Anniversary of the Victory’, was jointly organized by the Authorized Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Banks Association (ABA), and Nakhchivan State University.
The event was preceded by a visit to the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in Nakhchivan, during which participants honored his memory and then toured the Heydar Aliyev Museum.
In his opening remarks, Toghrul Aliyev, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank detailed the participants about the results of the Central Bank’s regulatory measures aimed at safeguarding macroeconomic and financial stability, the growth of the national credit portfolio, and ongoing initiatives to enhance financial inclusion across the country. He emphasized the important role of financial institutions in stimulating regional economic activity, as well as the contribution of the financial sector to the socio-economic development of the autonomous republic. Highlighting the significant progress achieved in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Deputy Governor noted that the expansion of the banking infrastructure in Nakhchivan, as part of the State Program approved by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, stands as a clear example of this advancement. He concluded his address by extending his congratulations to all forum participants on the occasion of Victory Day
The event continued with panel discussions and a roundtable session.
During the roundtable, participants discussed the topic ‘Current Economic Realities and Future Prospects in the Autonomous Republic: The Role of Banks in Promoting Regional Economic Revitalization.’ The session brought together Toghrul Aliyev, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Zakir Nuriyev, ABA President, and senior representatives of various banks. An infographic reflecting key performance indicators of banks operating in the autonomous republic was presented, followed by an exchange of views on the development prospects of the banking sector and opportunities for further cooperation in this field.
At the panel discussions, heads of regional bank branches in the autonomous republic shared insights as speakers. In addition, presentations were held for university students and faculty on topics such as banking services, digital banking, and career opportunities in the banking sector.
