Central Bank announces new application period for regulatory sandbox regime

25 May 2026, Baku: In line with the Financial Sector Development Strategy for 2024–2026, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan is promoting innovations in the financial sector, developing digital financial services, and introducing new technologies. The regulatory sandbox regime allows for the testing of innovative financial products within a limited framework and under the Central Bank's supervision.

Applications for the next testing phase of innovative financial solutions under the regulatory sandbox regime will be accepted from June 25 to August 25, 2026.

Testing of innovative financial products that meet the regulatory sandbox regime's criteria will be carried out based on an agreement to be entered into with the Central Bank.

To note, the implementation of pilot projects involving innovative products selected during previous adoption periods under the regulatory sandbox regime is currently underway. These projects include innovative financial solutions related to payment services, capital markets, and virtual assets.

Those wishing to participate in the regulatory sandbox regime may submit the documents and information specified in Paragraph 4.2 of the Regulations for the Application of the Regulatory Sandbox Regime to the Central Bank via the sandbox.cbar.az website after the start of the acceptance of applications.
